Serving the Rio Grande Valley from one location soon became difficult as the distance between the western and southern end of the valley is over 115 miles. A third Johnstone Supply location was established with the goal of serving the southern part of the Rio Grande Valley including the tourist town of South Padre Island as well as the growing manufacturing sector straddling the US/Mexico border.
